Ebony Teague

Your Weight Is Not Important

 Watercolour on book pages

19.6cm x 12.7 cm

Box 5: 109, Birdwood Road

Ebony is currently studying a BA fine art  Degree at Cambridge School of Art.

The piece is about the process of recovery from mental health issues, particularly eating disorders. The painting is on self-help book pages to emphasise the role of the self in recovery and the effort you have to put into therapy. The smaller face is to represent the restricting aspect of eating disorders while the larger one is the binging aspect. Ebony created this imagery originally by photocopying her own face in response to Jenny Saville’s work with Glen Luchford.
