Louisa Chambers

Loops, 2019,

25 x 20 cm,

Acrylic and Oil on Canvas

Box 13: 54, St Thomas’s Square

Initially Louisa Chambers begins with a simple folded form, that can be reconfigured and translated back into painting. The white outline of the shape in ‘Loops’ originates from a squashed form; the diamond elongated and subtly plays with figure ground painting relationships. Patterns featured on the surface derive from found decorative surfaces and motifs, memorised from daily encounters.

Since graduating from an MA in Painting, RCA (2007) Chambers has had a studio-based Painting practice. She is a Resident Artist at Primary and Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and has a forthcoming solo exhibition – Criss-Cross, Angear Visitor Centre, Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham, Autumn 2021.
